Clarke Inc. appoints new chairman

TORONTO, (May 23, 2003) — The board of directors of Clarke Inc., one of Canada’s largest for-hire carriers, announced that Hugh Kelly Smith has been appointed as chairman of the board.

Smith is vice-president of the Municipal Group of Companies, a Halifax-based operator of quarries and asphalt plants, and chairman of Mirror Nova Scotia Limited, a solid waste landfill operator in Halifax.

The board also officially named George Armoyan president and CEO. Armoyan, has been acting president and CEO since the departure of Darell Hornby in April.
