Class 8 Orders: Second Lowest Month Since August 2010

NASHVILLE, IN — FTR Associates preliminary data on August Class 8 truck net orders are showing a 27 percent increase from July at 15,935 units.

And while much better than July, FTR said August’s numbers still ranks as the second lowest order month since August 2010. “The annualized rate for net orders placed in the last three months comes in at just 179,300 units, well below the same period a year ago,” FTR said in the report.

FTR President Eric Starks said August order numbers are where they expected them to be ” and validate our assumptions that production should ease over the next few quarters to come in line with demand. We are forecasting Q4 orders to fall below the current production levels.”
