STIRLING, Ont. — The Stirling Truck Show and Shine committee is moving forward with the idea of having a little vintage appeal at the truck show next June.

At a meeting earlier this week, the committee met with Choice Reefer Systems owner Stan Morrow, who announced he’s working in conjunction with the committee in hopes of adding some vintage trucks to the lineup for next year.

Morrow, who has owned the Belleville, Ont. carrier since 1985, has been in the trucking business for 35 years.

"It brings a whole new venue to the show, there are 15 or 20 people who’ve already expressed interest," Morrow said. "It’s just one more thing that will bring another group of people out."

A lot of new truckers in the industry don’t know about the history of trucking, he added, so a vintage section of the truck show can help educate as well as attract people who might not normally attend.

The committee is hoping to see at least 15 to 20 vintage trucks for the show next year. A vintage truck doesn’t necessarily have to be a transport truck, according to Morrow, “a vintage truck is a vintage truck.”

Morrow is also a silver sponsor of the truck show and will host a turkey dinner for the show’s participants on Friday before the show.

"Stan has supported us from the get-go," said Dave Potts, committee chair.
