CN moves Winnipeg intermodal terminal

WINNIPEG, Man. — Canadian National (CN) Railway is moving its intermodal terminal from Kenaston Blvd. to St. Boniface’s Symington Yards.

The City of Winnipeg is now hoping CN will put up some cash to help the city build a rail underpass for Kenaston Blvd. traffic. So far, however, CN has been reluctant to do so, noting its paying taxes on two properties rather than just the new one that it’s operating from.

The rail giant also says it paid $16-million to move the intermodal yard.

Meanwhile, CN is holding out for assurances the city will upgrade Plessis Road so it is capable of handling more truck traffic at the Symington terminal.
