CN to hike some open tariffs 4%

MONTREAL (Sept. 15, 2003) — Canadian National Railway said it will increase some of its open tariffs by 4 per cent to offset the effects of the higher Canadian dollar on its revenues.

CN said the increase would apply to about 40 per cent of its open tariffs, effective Oct. 1.

The railroad, North America’s fifth-largest, started increasing open tariff rates on Jan. 1 with some rates rising as much as 10 per cent.
