MONTREAL, Que. — This coming Monday marks the deadline for striking United Transportation Union workers to ratify their tentative settlement reached with CN Rail back on February 24.

Results of the ratification vote will be announced April 10th.

Initially, ratification results were to be announced on March 26th, however CN agreed to a request by the UTU to extend the contract ratification ballot count date to April 9th.

While the UTU represented employees remain on strike pending ratification, the great majority has returned to work during the ratification process.

We remain hopeful that UTU members will ratify the agreement, as we believe it presents a fair and equitable deal. Should the UTU not ratify the agreement and proceed with rotating strikes, I assure you that we are committed and prepared to provide the best possible service to our customers, by maintaining freight operations across Canada with management personnel performing UTU-represented jobs, said James M. Foote, Executive Vice-President, Sales and Marketing at CN.
