TORONTO, Ont. — Can-AM West Carriers, Muir’s International and Signature Truck Lines are among the latest companies to join the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Partnership Program.

The voluntary program recognizes fleets that have taken measures to reduce their emissions by implementing idle-reducing technologies and practices.

Although it’s a U.S. program, organizers have encouraged Canadian fleets to join as well. They are then given a preferred status by many shippers who are also part of the program.

There are now 148 fleets taking part in the SmartWay Partnership Program, the EPA reports.
