TORONTO, Ont. — Vitran Corporation has announced it has completed its acquisition of Sierra West Express.

Sierra is a regional less-than-truckload freight carrier with operations in the Western U.S. The transaction was initially announced Dec. 19.

Vitran officials say the acquisition adds eight new terminals in California, Nevada and Arizona to the Toronto-based carrier’s growing LTL network.

Sierra West posted revenues of US$16 million in the 12-month period ending Nov. 30, 2005.
