MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Walmart Canada awarded its top carriers recently during the company’s second annual carrier awards dinner.

Carrier of the Year was Interstate Freight Systems (IFS) out of Brampton, Ont., which also took top honours as Inbound Carrier of the Year. Store Delivery Carrier of the Year was Erb Transport. H&R Transport won the Strive for Excellence Award and Bison Transport took Innovative Carrier of the Year honours.

“Our carriers are an important partner in helping Walmart deliver on its mission of saving people money,” Andy Ellis, SVP of supply chain and logistics for Walmart Canada told Trucknews.com. “Walmart Canada’s annual carrier awards provide an arena to formally thank these best-in-class partners and to recognize them for a job well done.  We would like to congratulate IFS, Erb Transport, Bison and H&R Transport on their awards and achievements.”

For its part, Bison Transport issued a statement saying it was honoured to receive the Innovative Carrier of the Year award. Jeff Pries, v.p. of sales and marketing and Rob Penner, vice-president of operations accepted the award Jan. 21. Company president Don Streuber said Bison earned the award due to its environmental sustainability initiatives.

“This award is in recognition of Bison as a leader in transportation sustainability,” said Streuber. “We are honoured to be recognized by Walmart Canada and will continue to service them with industry leading technology and the highest standards of safety throughout our growing partnership.”
