COMPETITION WATCH: YRC Worldwide delivers another record year

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — YRC Worldwide Inc., a multi-brand transportation service provider, announced its 2005 operating revenue topped record-breaking numbers set just a year earlier.

For the full year of 2005, YRC Worldwide reported a record operating revenue of $8.74 billion compared to its 2004 record operating revenue of $6.77 billion. The increase also meant a rise in the earnings-per-share (EPS), from $3.75 in 2004 to $5.12 for 2005.

YRC Worldwide also recorded significant improvements during its the fourth quarter of 2005. The EPS was reported at $1.34, an increase of $0.10 from the reported 2004 results. Operating revenue for the fourth quarter also increased from the previous year from $1.77 billion to $2.48 billion in 2005.

“We had another excellent year in 2005 both financially and strategically,” stated Bill Zollars, Chairman, President and CEO of YRC Worldwide. “Our business units performed well and delivered solid financial results, which are even more impressive considering we added the USF companies to our portfolio and realigned our regional service coverage.”

Financial results in 2005 for YRC Worldwide include earnings from the USF companies beginning on May 25, 2005. Increased earnings were reported in all the companies divisions, which include Yellow Transportation, Roadway Express, Reimer Express, Meridian IQ, USF Holland, USF Reddaway, USF Bestway, USF Glen Moore, and New Penn Motor Express.

“Our focus now is on delivering 2006 results and continuing our strategic initiatives,” stated Zollars. “With our significant scale and operational leverage combined with a good economy, we feel confident with our plans for the upcoming year.”
