CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.— Come January, truckers can once again expect to pay more to cross the Confederation Bridge.
Tolls increased by 50 cents for two-axle vehicles, to $45, and another extra 25 cents per each additional axle, to $7.50. The changes were announced this week and will take effect Jan.1. They reflect the $1 increase from 2012.
Strait Crossing Bridge Limited will operate the Confederation Bridge until 2032, when it will hand it over to the government of Canada.
As part of their agreement, the bridge operators can adjust tolls based on inflation every January 1.
