MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. — Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway is hosting an open house at Pitt Meadows Municipal hall tonight to discuss its new intermodal freight yard properties.

Westfair Foods will be building the first of three warehouses on CP’s land, and the building will be complemented by a new intersection providing truck access off Lougheed.

More transportation changes could be in store for the area to accommodate increased truck traffic including the construction of new intersections and improvements to the Pitt River Bridge.

Meanwhile, the design for the new intersection at the intermodal yard will be unveiled tonight at the open house between 7 p.m. and 9.

According to Rick Poznikoff, community relations manager for CP, westbound truck traffic won’t be affected by the intersection since it will retain three lanes on each side of the highway. There will be an acceleration and deceleration lane for trucks going to and from the property.
