CP Rail, Teamsters reach deal for train operators

CALGARY — Canadian Pacific Rail and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference, have announced that both sides have reached a tentative five-year contract settlement for 4,500 locomotive engineers and conductors.

“This is an important agreement that effectively balances the objectives of the TCRC members and the company’s goals,” said Rick Wilson, CP assistant
vice-president of Labour Relations.

The deal will be sent to the union membership for ratification.

The two sides also reached a three-year deal back in June for about 3,200 maintenance workers, effectively ending a three-week strike at the time.

“We are pleased to be presenting this agreement to our members as it provides for improvements in wages, benefits, and pension provisions, as well as the introduction of work-life balance issues.” said Douglas Finnson, TCRC vice-president.

Details of the tentative agreement will be released following ratification by union members.
