Cummins Eastern Canada boss sends 100 kids to Disney World

MONTREAL, (May 5, 2005) — He wasn’t fitted for a green jacket, but he sure saw his fair share of green.

Maybe it was the adrenalin working overtime — or perhaps the great feeling of helping out kids that kept him going — but after six rounds of golf Cummins Eastern Canada President Michael Christodoulou felt no soreness or stress as he walked onto the green to sink his final putt on the 108th hole of the day.

Christodoulou set out to send 100 needy kids to Walt Disney World in Florida through the Dreams Take Flight program. He achieved the challenge by playing 100 holes of golf at Hudson’s Falcon Golf Club near Montreal, and thereby raising $100,000, in one day.

Actually, he played 108 holes, because “it makes no sense to stop in the middle of a round.”

The money was raised through Cummins Eastern Canada suppliers, customers and employees.

Christodoulou teed off a little before 7 :00 am and played the 108th hole some 10 hours later. He shot an 83 on his last round, maintaining a respectable average of 85.

Giving thanks to all the sponsors, Cummins Eastern Canada employees, and organizers who made that event possible, he said that ” the kids are the real winners of that day.”

Dreams Take Flight project is run by Air Canada employees and retirees who organize the trip of a lifetime for physically, mentally or socially challenged children.
