Cummins Westport improving LNG

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Cummins Inc. of Columbus, Indiana and Westport Inc. of Vancouver, B.C., have won $760,000 in funding to improve liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology as a joint venture.

The financial assistance award was provided by the U.S. Department of Energy in Chicago, the DOE’s office of transportation technology and Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The project is intended to support the expanded use of LNG in heavy-trucks and improve heavy-duty vehicle fuel pumps and storage, develop refueling system at its maximum-density state, which would lessen the dependency on imported oil.
