Cummins Westport names new president

VANCOUVER, (Jan. 20, 2005) — Cummins Westport announced today that the Board of Directors has appointed Guan Saw as president, effective April 1, 2005. Saw is currently general manager for Cummins East Asia International Distributor Business in Beijing. Cummins Westport Inc. is a joint venture of Cummins and Vancouver-based Westport Innovations for the production of alternative fuel, and hydrogen-based fuel cell engines “Guan has excellent skills and specific experience to lead CWI’s international growth plan, particularly in Asia where the demand for alternative fueled engines continues to increase. We are very pleased to have him join the team,” Steve Chapman, CWI’s Chairman, said in a release. Saw, 50, joined Cummins in 1989. Currently based in Beijing, he has been responsible for Cummins distributor business growth in East Asia, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mongolia. Previously, Mr. Saw has held a number of key Cummins management roles including Manager, Marketing and Business Development-China/Hong Kong, General Manager-Cummins Hong Kong, and various management roles in the United States. He obtained a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malaya in Malaysia, and a Masters of Public and Private Management degree from Yale University. Saw will relocate to Vancouver with his family. Hugh Foden, CWI’s president since mid-2002, will accept a new assignment within Cummins to lead the engine business in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
