CVSA brake blitz kicks-off

TORONTO — If your brakes give that ear-piercing squeak every time you approach a red light, this is as good a time as any to check them out.

Beginning Sunday Sept. 13, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will host its annual Brake Safety Week, which aims to improve inspection, compliance, maintenance and performance of commercial vehicle brakes throughout North America.

As part of its Operation Air Brake Campaign, that means CVSA’s provincial and state truck enforcement partners will be on heightened alert for bad or out-of-adjustment brakes at weigh stations across the continent. They will conduct Level I and Brake-Only inspections.

Of course, there’s also the education component, which includes activities and surveys with drivers and mechanics at truckstops and other locations.

The campaign runs through Saturday, Sept. 19.
