Daimler to equip NA dealers with DEF dispensers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Daimler Trucks North America and SPATCO DEF announced a strategic partnership to manufacture and distribute patent-pending Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Dispensing Systems to over 800 DTNA dealers throughout the United States and Canada.

SPATCO’s DEF Dispensing Systems will provide Daimler’s SCR truck customers with the equipment to dispense DEF into their diesel vehicles and enable them to meet the EPA’s 2010 deadline for reduced NOx emissions.

By injecting DEF, a non-toxic mixture of 67.5 percent water and 32.5 percent urea, into the exhaust of vehicles using SCR, harmful NOx emissions are reduced to almost zero. In addition to reduced emissions, this technology has also been proven to increase fuel economy by between 5 and 9 percent, the companies say.
