Date set for Alberta charity drive

EDMONTON, Alta. — Organizers have announced Albertas leg of the World’s Largest Truck Convoy will be taking place on Sept. 15, 2007.

The Guinness Book of World Records breaking event is held annually across North America to raise money for the Special Olympics. The 2006 run had more than 1,800 trucks participate, raising more than $500,000.

In Alberta in 2006, 81 trucks participated in the event raising a little more than $30,000 for the cause.

Registration packages and start locations are in the works and will be announced as soon as they are ready.
