TORONTO, Ont. — Fill details on the government’s anti-idling tax rebate program should be available by mid to late September.

The news comes courtesy of OTA and CTA officials, who lobbied the federal government to provide tax rebates as an incentive to trucking companies.

The government announced up to a 19 per cent rebate program for in-cab heaters/coolers and auxiliary power generators earlier this month.

Until further details of the program are available, association officials say requirements for rebates will include the following:

* a copy of the bill of sale
* make & model number
* unit serial number
* a copy or original of the UPC
* a completed copy of an application form (not yet ready)
* a completed questionnaire (not yet ready)

The rebate will be applicable from the date of the announcement (August 12). Applicants should keep receipts and information on the above items until the forms are available from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) in September. In addition, NRCan will be developing a list of products eligible for the rebate including the in-cab heater /coolers and the auxiliary power generators.
