PORTLAND, Ore. — Freightliner has appointed Friedrich Baumann as the new president of Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing. Baumann’s most recent role was as general manager of purchasing and supply for Freightliner.

Friedrich joined the company in 1993 as a financial analyst and since then, has held various positions within the company in such areas as controlling, product cost reductions and used truck operations.

“We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Friedrich to head the Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing operations,” said Jack Conlan, senior vice-president of customer support. “I am confident he will continue to build on the already strong business foundation that is in place currently and his expertise in purchasing, supply, and controlling will prove a tremendous asset as he moves forward in his new role.”

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing remanufactures and markets a complete line of diesel engines and related products in North America, including the reliabilt brand.

Baumann will be responsible for the overall vision, strategy and operations of Freightliner’s growing remanufacturing business, including the company’s five remanufacturing locations throughout North America.

Baumann succeeds Jim Morrow, who elected to retire after nearly 40 years of service with Detroit Diesel.
