MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Pat Dilillo, the founder of Di-Mond Trailers and the former owner of Mond Industries, passed away yesterday.
Dilillo ran Mond Industries from 1981 to 1998 before selling the company to Trailmobile. He was known for such innovative ideas as stainless steel rear headers on dry freights before going to galvanized rear headers as standard. Dilillo was also responsible for the first 40-53-ft. extendable chassis before moving on to the all-galvanized extendable chassis.
Dilillo made a name for himself because of his open door policy. The Di-Mond Web site said he was accessible to all customers to make their experience the best it could be.
