CHICAGO, IL -The Montreal-based trucking and logistics provider Dicom Transportation Group has added last mile capabilities in the Eastern U.S. through the acquisition of the Courier Express Enterprises group of companies.
Dicom parent Wind Point Partners, a private U.S. investment firm, made the announcement on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not released.
Courier Express Enterprises (CXP) is an asset-free provider of business-to-business last mile services with a network of more than 1,000 delivery providers to handle customer shipments in a 10-state service area that ranges from Maine to Virginia.
CXP was founded in 1999 and will be aligned with the Express division of Dicom Transportation Group.
“The acquisition of CXP more than doubles our dedicated last mile carrier base in the U.S. and provides Dicom with substantial scale in a very attractive region of the U.S.” said Konrad Salaber, a principal at Wind Point. “Moreover, CXP is an important complement to our recent acquisitions in the Midwest, West Coast, and Southern U.S. and underscores Dicom’s continuing emergence as a continental logistics services provider.”
Dicom’s acquisition program focuses on acquiring courier, less-than-truckload and transportation providers in Quebec, Ontario and the United States, according to the company, and is also seeking 3PL providers who manage transportation, logistics and supply chain functions for businesses in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
