TRURO, N.S. — Kelly Henderson, executive director of the Trucking Human Resources Sector Council, has won a Council of the Federation Literacy Award, according to a report from the Truro Daily News.

Under Henderson’s direction, the Nova Scotia-based council recently conducted a province-wide workplace education organization needs assessment of the trucking industry. Based on the initiative’s findings, numerous workplace education programs are slated to begin this fall and will include participants coming from a cross-section of the trucking industry.

Henderson has also coordinated One Journey programs and older worker programs, which officials say have resulted in more than 100 Nova Scotians working as professional truck drivers.
