Dodge rolls out new class 3 Ram

ATLANTA — The Dodge Ram is back in the commercial chassis cab segment. Introduced yesterday at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Atlanta, the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab expands on the truckmaker’s portfolio in the truck market.

“With expanded capability, versatility and performance, the all-new Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab is the ultimate truck for the commercial customer looking for a dynamic, yet capable work truck, said George Murphy, senior-vice president of Global Brand Marketing, Chrysler Group, in a press release.

The Ram 3500, says Dodge, boasts the Class 3 segment’s highest single-rear-wheel Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,200 lbs., class-
leading frame strength (50-ksi steel), largest standard fuel tank (52 gallons), best-in-class standard V-8 power with 330 horsepower, longest oil change intervals (15,000 miles) and best-in-class interior cab room of 121.6 cubic feet for Quad Cab(TM) models and 65.2 cubic feet for
regular cab models.

Offered in single-rear-wheel and dual-rear-wheel models, two cab-axle lengths (60 and 84 inches) are available.

The 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 offers both the new 6.7-litre Cummins High Output Turbo Diesel with 305 horsepower and 610 lb.-ft. of torque, or the HEMI V-8 gasoline engine with 330 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque.

Dodge says the truck combines commercial capability, durability and leading versatility in a vehicle targeted at small business tradesmen, fleet customers, and traditional chassis cab users looking for more cab space.

The truck offers a six-speed automatic transmission (diesel only) with Power Take Off (PTO) capability or a six-speed manual transmission with PTO capability. An available electronic-shift
transfer case is offered and a factory-installed exhaust brake option as well.
