HALIFAX, N.S. — TruckWeight has revealed its Smart Scale wireless scale for commercial vehicles will be available as an installed option on trailers produced by Doepker Industries.

Based in Annaheim, Sask., Doepker Industries’ trailers are marketed through 27 dealership locations and sales agents in Canada and the U.S.

“Our wireless Smart Scale can help Doepker customers be more productive,” said Peter Panagapko, president of TruckWeight. “It gives them a competitive edge and pays for itself quickly.”

Smart Scale measures temperature and pressure changes in a vehicle’s air suspension and wirelessly relays this data to a handheld receiver using a low-powered radio transmitter. The result is an axle weight and gross vehicle weight measurement that’s within 0.3 per cent of the actual gross vehicle weight, says the company.

The wireless reader has a range of 500 feet line-of-sight, so it can deliver measurements from the truck cab or the seat of a loading machine. The sensors are accurate in temperature extremes ranging from -40 C to 70 C and use common AA batteries.
