DOT shares results of enforcement blitz targeting truck drivers
The U.S. Department of Transportation released the results of a recent law enforcement blitz targeting unsafe commercial vehicles.
As part of Operation SafeDRIVE, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and law enforcement partners in 26 states and the District of Columbia carried out targeted enforcement actions along major freight corridors.

Between Jan. 13-15, there were 8,215 inspections, resulting in 704 drivers being placed out of service, including nearly 500 for English-language proficiency violations. In addition, 1,231 vehicles were placed out of service, and there were 56 arrests.
“This operation was about safety,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs. “When drivers ignore the rules, operate without proper qualifications, or get behind the wheel impaired, they put all of our lives at risk. Operation SafeDRIVE demonstrates the value of focused enforcement and strong partnerships in removing these drivers and vehicles from our roads.”
