VICTORIA, B.C. — B.C. has revamped its provincial road condition Web site www.drivebc.ca.
“As we head into the holiday driving season, we want to keep B.C. highways safe by keeping drivers informed about current road conditions, weather reports and traffic delays,” said Transport Minister, Kevin Falcon. “I encourage anyone who is planning to travel over the holidays to visit the new Drive B.C. website site to get the information they need before they set out.”
The Web site includes weather conditions, travel advisories, road closures, Web cams, load restrictions and other important information for truckers and other travellers.
It’s updated with the most current information from maintenance contractors, construction contractors, concessionaires, police and other sources.
“With poor weather, we tend to see an increase in the number of collisions that occur on B.C. roads,” said Laurie Baker, ICBC manager of road safety. “By knowing the most current road and weather conditions, drivers can take the proper precautions and reduce their risk of getting into a collision.”
