Drivers in Manitoba: Check road conditions

WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Department of Transportation and Government Services is advising drivers to check road conditions before setting out on their trips, as flooding has affected many provincial and municipal roadways.

"Travellers should check the status of roads to their destinations by telephone or the highway condition website," said Transport Minister, Ron Lemieux. "Municipal roads are also impacted by overland flooding so travellers should also check with local rural municipality offices prior to regional travel."

Drivers are also being asked to slow down near road crews, who are working hard to restore washed out roadways. At times over the weekend there were 19 road closures, nine roads with cautions being reported and two with lane closures.
