NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. (June 17, 2005) — Three of the best drivers ever to haul for a private fleet were inducted into the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada’s Professional Drivers Hall of Fame today.

The hall of fame is sponsored by Cancom Tracking and recognizes superior over the road performance by drivers whose companies are members of the PMTC.  The concept for the Hall of Fame was to provide a more permanent recognition of their abilities that that afforded by an award in a single year.

The first inductee in 2005 was Mr. John Kloosterboer of Advantage Personnel, driving for the HBC Logistics. Kloosterboer has been driving for 43 years. At the annual Advantage Personnel safety meeting held in January, John was the recipient of the THSAO safe driver pin for 27 years of accident free driving with the driver service.

John also has been recognized as most efficient in daily pick-ups and continually out performs those drivers a quarter of  his age. He was the first driver to become the Advantage Personnel driver of the year, which was awarded to him in 1994.

Another longtime professional driver with Advantage Personnel, Frank Davis is assigned to Sunbury Transport. In over 50 years of driving, Frank has operated commercial vehicles in all ten provinces, two territories and all forty-nine continental United States as well as outside North America.
He first got behind the wheel in 1952 when, as an Armed Forces cadet, he was trained to operate military vehicles. On his retirement from the military, Frank continued in his chosen profession. He spent eighteen years as an owner-operator hauling everything from produce to Christmas trees before driving for Sunbury, where he started in 1994.
Safety is Frank’s focus. He received a Million Mile Accident-Free Award from Sunbury in 2003 and he continues to rack up still more accident-free miles.

Normand Beaudin of Unique Personnel, driving for Samuel Son and Company, was the third driver inducted in the Hall of Fame.

He joined Unique Personnel in 1985 and was assigned to the Samuel Sons account, where he has driven ever since.  In more than 20 years with Unique and Samuel Sons Norman has kept a clean driving record with no accidents in over 2,500,000 miles of driving.

As part of his continuing education, in 1996 Normand completed the skills upgrading program for Professional Drivers developed by the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council.

Normand spent 10 years as a volunteer fireman with the municipality of St. Bernard de Lacolle and in fact was instrumental in developing the fire brigade.
