DriveTest licence extension expires in weeks

TORONTO — Ontario truck drivers who still haven’t retested for their commercial licence since last summer’s five-month DriveTest strike, only have until the end of August to do so.

According to DriveTest’s website, the automatic extension put in place for commercial drivers whose licences expired during the strike will be revoked on Sept. 1, 2010.

Therefore, licence holders will need to successfully complete test requirements before that date to remain licensed.

However, drivers whose licences expired during the strike cannot book a road test using the online booking system.

Those drivers are asked to call 1-888-570-6110 or 416-325-8580 to speak to an agent or visit a DriveTest centre in person.
