East Coast Truckers Honor The Best

DIEPPE, NB — The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) honored a few east coast truckers who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to the trucking industry.

“Each year the APTA recognizes outstanding individuals who work behind the wheel or behind the desks of trucking companies that make a difference in our industry and that make up our association," said APTA executive director, Jean Marc Picard. "We are pleased and proud again this year to present another exceptional group of award recipients”.

The 2011 award recipients included:

  • APTA and Shaw Tracking Service to the Industry — Shane Esson, Midland Transport, Dieppe, New Brunswick, and outgoing Chair of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association
  •  
  • APTA and Volvo Trucks Canada Driver of the Year — Stephen McGibbon, Milltown Trucking, Oak Bay, New Brunswick
  •  
  • APTA and TMW Systems Dispatcher of the Year — Evelyn Decker-Westcott, Hunt’s Transport, St. John’s, Newfoundland
  •  
  • APTA and Markel Insurance Safety to Motor Transportation — Gay White, Atlantica Diversified Transportation Systems, Mount Pearl, Newfoundland

APTA and Marine Atlantic Good Samaritan — Roger Isaacs, Midland Transport, Dieppe, New Brunswick

Two honorary directors were also recognized for their long and distinguished service to the association and to the industry:

Donnie Fillmore Sr., Atlantic Pacific Transport Ltd., Clairville, New Brunswick

Tommy MacDonald, Tom MacDonald Trucking, Sidney River, Nova Scotia
