Eaton and Qualcomm announce tamper detection capabilities

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Eaton VORAD Safety Systems has introduced a tamper detection option for its EVT-300 collision warning system.

The tamper detection option is powered by Qualcomm Incorporated and will provide fleets with real-time notification of any vehicle tampering issues.

EVT-300 notifies dispatch when tampering has occurred, even tampering with system sub-units like the CPU. When this happens, a message is sent from the truck to the dispatch centre over Qualcomm’s OmniTracs system.

"In working with Qualcomm, we are able to provide our customers a complete solution ranging from collision warning to real-time messaging and reporting," says Tim Morscheck, vice-president of technology for Eaton’s Truck Components business unit and general manager of the Eaton VORAD business unit.

The EVT-300 system includes forward and side-looking radar sensors, in-cab display units, SmartCruise, a trip recorder and accident reconstruction capabilities.
