Electrical System Gets a New Spark

Sterling Trucks
The electrical system of Sterling’s A-Line heavy-duty highway tractors and L-Line heavy-duty vocational trucks has been given a boost.

Engineers reconfigured the wiring harness, allowing more flexibility in making electrical connections between the chassis and the body. Now there are twice as many standard locations when making power connections to the chassis-including access points under the hood, inside the cab, and behind it.

Weatherproof heavy-duty wiring connectors seal out the elements. On the firewall, a pair of positive-locking bulkhead connectors are installed for wiring to pass through the firewall to the cab interior.

The system also includes an under-the-hood power distribution box that puts all the circuit breakers and primary circuits in one location. In addition, all wiring is coded by number and color, and all circuits are hard-wire grounded for increased reliability.
