Employers subject to fines

OTTAWA, Ont. — Human Resources Development Canada has issued a warning to employers who have not yet filled out their Annual Hazardous Occurrence Health and Safety Reports.

The reports (form no. LAB1009) for the t12-month period ending Dec. 31, 2002, were due March 1. Employers who have not returned their reports are subject to possible prosecution and fines.

According to HRDC, more than 2,000 federal jurisdiction employers have yet to file their forms. Employers needing assistance in filling them out can call 819-997-5472 from the Ottawa-Gatineau region or 1-877-568-9606 toll free (7 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST).

Blank report forms can be downloaded or printed from the following Web site: www.grdc-drhc.gc.ca (click English/ Forms and E-services/ Human Resources Development Canada Forms/ Forms List by Subject/ Occupational Health and Safety).

Employers can also contact their nearest HRDC-Labour regional office for assistance.
