Erb Trucking Receives Gold Award for Health Programs

NEW HAMBURG, ON —The Erb Group of Companies was given a gold star by Waterloo Regions’s Healthy Workplace Program for their commitment to improving the health of their employees.

Based on a points system, companies were evaluated on wellness activities and programs at the workplace.

Erb has a couple of strong health initiatives, like the Highway to Health Wellness program that has several informative presentations on health topics like cholesterol, physical activity, and smoking. The Soles Motion Fitness Challenge is a 12-week program where employees track their steps and physical activity on a web-based program. Empolyees record their daily activity which is then converted into a virtual journey from Erb’s Montreal terminal to the Winnipeg terminal. Teams are created and the winners receive prizes.

Erb also has plans for a company cook book with lunch and learns, as well as a Winter Fitness Challenge.

Last year Erb took came in second, but wanted the middle spot on the podium this year. “This is a great accomplishment for Erb,” said David Dietrich, V.P. of human resources. “The health of our employees is very important and always top of mind, especially being in the trucking industry where health issues are a rising concern.”
