REXDALE, Ont. — Kevin Burch, president of Jet Express in Dayton, Ohio received a warm welcome when he came to Toronto recently to speak at the latest Driving for Profit seminar on the subject of CSA 2010.
Burch, president of the Truckload Carriers Association and Jeff Davis, vice-president of safety and human resources for Jet Express were both slated to speak at the Nov. 3 seminar. One of the event’s hosts, Kim Richardson of KRTS Transportation Specialists, discovered that Burch is a huge horse racing fan and hosted his guests at Woodbine Raceway during their stay.
Richardson then arranged for one of the evening’s races to be renamed the Truckload Carriers Association Race and allowed Burch to present the winning jockey with a special trophy.
The race was won by Caviar’s Dream and its owner was presented with a trophy declaring him the winner of the first ever Truckload Carriers Association Race.
“We’re always looking for new ways to expose the general public to the trucking industry, and this was an unusual and positive way to do it,” said an appreciative Burch. “My thanks go out to Kim Richardson and his people for arranging such a terrific evening.”
