FAST card fees discounted

OTTAWA — The Canadian FAST application fee has been reduced to $50 to mirror the U.S. fee, Canada Border Services announced.

The new rate will go into effect tomorrow, Dec. 1, 2007.

Applications received at a Canadian Processing Centre before December 1, however, will be processed as usual and the current $80 fee will apply.

FAST membership remains valid for five years and the application fee is
non-refundable.

CBSA reminds drivers that in order to ensure expedited passage across the border, it is recommended that renewal requests are sent four to six weeks prior to expiry.

The CBSA can begin to process your renewal request no sooner
than 90 calendar days prior to your FAST expiry date.
