Feds announce funding freeze

OTTAWA, Ont. — Paul Martin yesterday announced a funding freeze on capital spending projects for the next three months.

The funding freeze is not expected to affect joint federal/provincial projects such as improvements to the Windsor border crossing, to which the federal government committed $150 million under Chretien, say MTO officials.

The $300 million project is to be jointly funded by the Ontario and federal governments.
