FERIC to host forestry transportation conference

TRURO, N.S. — The Forest Engineering Research Institute of Canada (FERIC) is hosting a two-day forestry transportation conference this week, entitled Where the Rubber Meets the Road.

Truck West editor James Menzies will be presenting on the subject of the 2002/2004 engine performance and the impending emissions standards. That is just one of three sessions devoted to fuel awareness, also including: Implementing Fuel Awareness Programs and the Experience Following Smart Driver Training.

Also on the agenda are sessions on truck performance/spec’ing, safety and business issues and future developments.

Day two of the program will focus on environmental issues and road construction and design topics.

FERIC is a research and development organization whose goal is to improve Canadian forestry operations related to the harvesting and transportation of wood. The conference takes place Apr. 27-28 at the Best Western Glengarry Convention Center in Truro, N.S. For more information, contact FERIC at 514-694-1140.
