Finning reinvests in Alberta technician program

EDMONTON — Finning and Caterpillar are expanding their partnership with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) by investing millions in the school’s Heavy Equipment Technician and Technology Programs.

Technology in the field is rapidly advancing and the donation will ensure students are working with the latest technology.

This year NAIT will train 1,350 Heavy Equipment Technician apprentices, an increase of 107 percent from 2004/05. NAIT trains the most HET apprentices in Alberta and is the only school in the country offering a diploma in Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology.

Finning and Caterpillar first teamed up with NAIT in 2003 with ThinkBIG, an innovative training program designed to train Caterpillar Dealer Service Technicians.
