Golfing to grant wishes

Truck News

TORONTO, Ont. – Back in early June, Truck News collaborated with Chevron to host its ninth annual charity golf tournament at Wooden Sticks Golf Course in Uxbridge, Ontario, in support of Make-A-Wish Canada.

The event was a major success as participating trucking companies raised $15,000 that day for the charity.

It is our pleasure here at Truck News to share with our readers and participants of the golf event that the funds raised went to Rhonda Cheung and her family this summer.

The Cheung’s took Rhonda to Give Kids the World, a storybook resort where she had the opportunity to meet her favourite characters. She was most excited to meet the Disney princesses.

Paula and Ken, Rhonda’s wish grantors said that when they first met Rhonda she was non-responsive and unable to communicate what her wish would be. Rhonda’s family said that she responded to pictures of Disney characters and that they wished to give Rhonda the chance to see the characters in person.

The Cheung’s confirmed that Rhonda responded very positively to the characters she met at the Give Kids the World and the Magic Kingdom.

“They wish to give a huge thank you to Make-A-Wish, Truck News, NAL Insurance and Chevron Lubricants,” said Paula and Ken in a written summation of Rhonda’s wish experience. “They want to emphasize that this was the best family experience that they ever had and can’t thank everyone enough for making this happen.”
