AKRON, Ohio — Penske Truck Leasing recently presented Goodyear with its Outstanding Achievement Award for 2007, a first for a tire supplier.

Goodyear supplies Penske with a variety of truck tires, including replacement and retreads, as well as tire services. The Akron-based tire company also received a Tire Supplier of the Year award, its eighth consecutive.

Steve McClellan, Goodyear’s vice-president of commercial tire systems, said, “This recognition is significant for us. We’ve worked hard to develop innovative products and business tools that help lower Penske’s tire cost-per-mile as well as grow our service footprint to better serve Penske trucks as they travel North American highways.

“The company also has provided more than 12,000 hours of training for Penske to enhance fleet tire maintenance. In addition, Goodyear nationwide surveys helped Penske reduce tire-related emergency service calls by 38% last year,” McClellan said.
