Goodyear unveils new long-haul steer tire

DANVILLE, Va. — Goodyear has rolled out a new commercial long-haul steer tire it says has been developed from the ground up.

The G395 LHS steer tire will "raise the industry bar," Goodyear says.

"We believe we’re bringing to the market a new steer tire with performance second to none," says Ted Fick, vice-president of Goodyear’s commercial tire division. "The design, engineering, compounding and testing support our belief."

The G395 LHS was designed with uniform wear in mind, and Goodyear says it offers more miles to removal as well as better retreadability.

"Combining those benefits, you have a steer tire designed to lower our customers’ cost per mile," says Fick.

The G395 LHS features an ‘evolving’ five-rib tread design featuring a barrel footprint which the company says optimizes treadwear performance.

"The tire was also designed to be a ‘tire within a tire’, which means exceptional performance through each stage of wear," says Fick.

Goodyear has implemented a new quality assurance process, which utilizes X-ray technology to inspect each G395 LHS steer market before it is shipped to dealerships.

"The combination of innovative tire design, coupled with our manufacturing process and quality control is why we’re so comfortable in offering the industry’s longest casing limited warranty seven years/700,000 miles, regardless of where the tire is retreaded," adds Fick.
