GPS leads police to stolen tractor-trailer

by Truck News

BRADFORD, Ont. — Satellite tracking helped the owners of a tractor-trailer locate their vehicle and break up an attempted theft with the help of police.

The incident happened July 3 just before 6 p.m. South Simcoe Police responded to the call of a stolen tractor-trailer on Reagen’s Industrial Parkway in Bradford. The owners of the vehicle had tracked it via GPS and called police.

Police officers spotted the truck driving south on 10 Sideroad and as they attempted to pull it over, police say a van behind the truck impeded their progress. Officers stopped both vehicles and arrested the van driver.

The driver of the truck fled on foot but was located using a canine unit. Two more suspects were found in a cube van near the site where the theft originated. A total of four arrests were made.
