Hauler beefs up R&R with advanced simulators

BARRIE, Ont. — Muskoka Transport says it has revolutionized its driver
recruitment and retention programs by expanding its simulation
programs.

“We have a history of providing our professional drivers a cutting edge and progressive environment. Our simulation learning programs provided by DriveWise ensures our personnel receive the quality training they deserve and enables us to ensure we recruit the best available talent,” states Muskoka’s health & safety officer Doug “Mac” MacMillan.

DriveWise will provide a monthly recurrency program with the new simulators to Muskoka Transport professional drivers as well as a one-hour driver examination for new hires.

The program is a four-hour program that is a mixture of classroom (including the interactive classroom performance system) and simulation. The pre-employment screening program is a one-hour program in which the candidate drives a series of scenarios to baseline his/her driving capabilities prior to a formal interview.

DriveWise baselines fuel consumption, ability to apply defensive driving principles, winter driving, city driving and freeway. The system uses the L3 MPRI driving simulators in all their solutions, in particular the TranSim series for the commercial trucking industry.
