Hay West seeking carriers

OTTAWA, Ont. — Hay West has gathered more hay for drought-stricken Western farmers, however the organization is still lacking transportation.

Carriers are being asked to consider donating their services to move some of this vital feed out west so Prairie farmers can feed their herds through the winter.

The group has enough hay to fill about 400 rail cars but with fewer cars available, the organization is hoping the trucking industry may step forward. The Ontario Trucking Association is reminding fleets interested in participating that the hay must be fumigated to avoid the spread of cereal leaf beetle.

They must also obtain a movement certificate. For more information, contact Pierre Brodeur at 866-429-9378 or 819-243-3966.
