Hendrickson Reinforces Slider Box
Hendrickson International
To meet the increasing strength demands of longer trailers, Hendrickson has reinforced its K-2 trailer slider box by adding, at no cost, a third cross member to the front of the box, increasing strength by a third, the company says.
Hendrickson says that even with the third cross member, the slider system still remains one of the lightest in the industry. VANTRAAX, an integrated assembly of the K-2 slider and INTRAAX suspension, brake and axle system for dry freight, refrigerated and specialty vans, is still 160 pounds lighter than its nearest competitors, the company says.
The new cross member sits in front of the forward “K” brace and is standard on all K-2
Boxes except the Ramp-Ready Slider. The refined K-2 box accommodates Hendrickson’s fully pneumatic QUIK-DRAW pin-pull mechanism. However, due to the strategic placement of the third cross member, the company’s earlier lever-actuated, air-assist pin-pull mechanism and other customer supplied spring devices will no longer be available.
