Hendrickson standard axle for International

WOODRIDGE, Ill. — The Steertek front steer axle from Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems is now standard on two more International truck models.

The weight saving Steertek is now standard on International ProStar and TranStar vehicle models. Steertek became the standard offering on the International LoneStar model in 2008.

According to the manufacturer, the proprietary design and manufacturing technology of Steertek’s unique fabricated design saves up to 27 pounds compared to traditional I-beam axles.

“We are pleased with International’s decision to upgrade their standard position axle to Steertek, our lightweight alternative to traditional I-beam axles,” says Doug Sanford, vice-president and general manager for Hendrickson’s Truck Systems Group. “As truck weights continue to increase, Hendrickson remains committed to reliable, weight saving options.”

Steertek’s rigid, box-shaped cross section resists horizontal, vertical and twisting forces more effectively than traditional I-beams, while the patented two-piece knuckle assembly simplifies kingpin bushing serviceability.
