CENTRE HASTINGS, Ont. — Local media is reporting that David Virgoe, the trucker who died after making an evasive maneuver to avoid street racers, will receive the distinguished Medal of Bravery this summer.

According to the Community Press/Quinte Media, Virgoe’s wife Debbie and son Brad will receive the medal this summer from Governor General Michaelle Jean.

Virgoe died after steering his rig into the ditch along Hwy. 400 after he was cut off by reckless drivers in June, 2007.
